I've created a wildcard certificate via GoDadday, where my domain in hosted. I used *.mydomainname.com as the common name.

I have created a new subdomain called about.mydomainname.com, to which I would like to apply this SSL certificate.

However when I upload the certificate App Engine only gives me www.mydomainmae.com and mydomainname.com as options.

What am I doing wrong? When I verified my certificate on GoDaddy, it confirmed that the certificate was for *.mydomainname.com.

First you need to setup your custom subdomains. Then in SSL Certificates, choose your certificate (or upload first). The console will show you all non-assigned domains/subdomains to check them on/off for the selected certificate.

Thanks. I'm aware of how to create and upload an SSL certificate, and select the domain used by the certificate. The problem is that the subdomain does not appear on the list, even though I am using a wildcard certificate and have added the subdomain to AppEngine (it works without SSL).

Hey Jude,

Is it possible that you merely need to add the subdomain in the Developers Console for your project ("App Engine" > "Settings" > "Custom domains") during the course of going through the documentation instructions? Or are you using versions and modules to route on subdomains of your main custom domain, in which case you should put a wildcard '*' as the subdomain in the Developers Console. Let us know if either of these are solutions.

Thanks, Nick. The subdomain has been added and works perfectly fine without SSL. I'm almost 100% sure the problem is that the certificate is not a true wildcard certificate.

Hey Jude,

You can inspect the data in your certificate by using openssl, there are several tutorials on the web. If you post back, be sure not to include anything private.
