Hi Gabriel,

Is the domain a primary domain?
At this point, you can not map your non-primary domain to your App Engine application.

Hello

I can't add domains to an application I already deployed to appspot. When i try to add domains, i'm redirected to the google apps panel, and there i get an unspecified error (no error code or meaningful description, just prompt me to try again later).

This is happening sice the morning. (domains are already verified) any tips? (Google apps support said i should contact GAE support in this forum),

thanks

Gabriel

Is there an existing issue that I can star?  Isn't appengine a prime candidate
to use non-primary domains?

Is this still true?

This is exactly what I need to do. My company has a primary domain mapped to it like <companyname>.com. But we are also launching a product on Google App Engine and we need that product to be available via <product>.com.

So far all of the documentation that I have found led me to registering the secondary domain with my company's Google App's account. But when I try to add a domain in Google App Engine, it asks me to select an account and infinite loops asking again and again to select an account. There are no error messages and not even anything in the JavaScript console.

What are the solutions to this? Do I need to register a Google Apps account and pay $5 per month for 1 user for every domain that I need to point to a Google App Engine site? That's really WAY too much overhead and maintenance to deal with.

You can have multiple domains on a single Apps account, that's the way I'm set up right now.

The infinite loop is a different problem. First of all, log out of all Google accounts. I mean everything: personal, business, school, whatever. Then log in to Google Apps (NOT APP ENGINE) with an admin account. Register your second domain as a domain alias (this is important, it has to be an alias, not a secondary domain/non-primary domain/whatever else is there). Once it's registered and you've confirmed the domain, log out. Go to your App Engine page, go to Adminstration > Add Domain > Enter your MAIN domain (not the aliased domain but the original [yourcompanyname] . com). You'll have to login again to Google Apps. On the page where you associate domains, there will be a dropdown list where you can select the domain to map.

well, it looks like this has now worked for us, though we've tried the same procedure, and variations of it multiple times before..
We highly recommend doing it in incognito mode.

thanks Vinny.

Good to hear!

If anyone else is interested in this, here's how the screen should look when you've successfully added multiple domains: http://imgur.com/4hqUaEy

Thanks, Vinny.  That is a great help!

Any tricks to getting email to the alias domain, e.g. 'in...@aliaseddomain.com'?

Really appreciate the time you've put into this.

Yes, the aliased domain's email is forwarded to the main domain registered to your Google Apps - so in...@aliasdomain.com would go to in...@yourcompanyname.com. Of course, this requires that aliasdomain.com's MX records are set to point to Google mail servers (listed here: http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=174125 ).

Alternately, you can set the MX records for aliasdomain.com to any mail service you want. I have my alias domain's MX records mapped to Mandrill's inbound mail service ( http://help.mandrill.com/entries/21699367-Inbound-Email-Processing-Overview ).
