Hi
I created a small Java application by Eclipse and the GAE plugin.
I use JDO for persistence.
What surprices me is the fact that the google site deployed version is about 20 to 100 times slower than the local.
(I just measure a code part within the server-side code - no startup or net traffic time included.)

Is this because I use the free hosting?
Are payed hostings better?

(my appid: javagrunda )

Best Regards
Toni

Hi Toni,
Once deployed, you might need to use the app for a little while to
let App Engine spin up instances. Once you've got some instances and
the average latency comes back down you'll probably see it speed up.

Also, use Appstats to profile your app. It is invaluable.

Hi Robert

Thanks for your advice.
I will try out the appstats.

I got same issue with deploying my apps to GAE since this morning on
Aug 8th. I created new app-id. Although the first version of
deployment is fast, the one I just did minute ago (8/11 10:30pm CST)
was so slow. There were like ten 60 seconds waiting.. that at least 10
minutes for the deployment.

Will check again in 1 seconds.
Will check again in 2 seconds.
Will check again in 4 seconds.
Will check again in 8 seconds.
Will check again in 16 seconds.
Will check again in 32 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.

Will check again in 60 seconds.
Will check again in 60 seconds.

Hi Nathan,
Sometimes deploys run slowly, it is usually a transient problem that
will clear itself up. I think deploys have been having more issues
than normal over the past one or two weeks.
