Hello Shivam,

Where is your WordPress code situated? If it's on your local development machine, you need to use a local text editor such as Notepad++ in Windows, or emacs in Linux. Cloud Shell Editor is meant for text in Cloud Shell.

You seem to want to deploy your WordPress site by means of FTP transfer. Instead, you should use a command similar to $ gcloud app deploy app.yaml cron.yaml, as documented on the "Run WordPress on App Engine standard environment" documentation page

Thank u for ur response George Sir..... but i have deployed my Wordpress site using same commands mentioned in the documentation, also my site is hosted on appengine using SQL insatance everything was working fine..... but problem arose when i tried to install any plugin in wordpress i was not allowed to do so and was prompted with window(mentioned in screenshot). I searched for its solution so on stack overflow they said - add this line in your wp-config file
define( FS_METHOD’, direct );

 so i tried adding using Cloud shell editor but  i m not sure changes we make in wordpress files on cloud shell editor do take effect or not.
Thats why i headed over to filezilla to edit my wp-config file......

long story short ..... I just want to get rid of window (mentioned in screenshot) hindering me from downloading plugins...

I assume you are trying t make the change directly to a running app.

Please make the change in wp-config at your local and then redeploy the app.

I agree with what Shivam said, I did this long back, and as far I remember, I don't know if FTP or SFTP ports are allowed in GAE. you can redeploy the app anyways after making changes until any new changes are made by Google now.

check this :  https://groups.google.com/g/google-appengine/c/AhlI9pFmDKI?pli=1

This made me shift my Wordpress blog to VM instance and its working fine there. Another thing what you can do is Port forwarding but not sure, as I never did it.

Well, I really don't hv idea about your architecture. But based on your inputs,

A high capacity VM, is good enough behind load balancer and autoscaling feature but every thing has to be maintained and monitored by you.

 I would have chosen, GKE to run my website as most of the things are taken care of by Google itself as like App engine but with better control and monitoring. It's just instead using 1 powerful VM , you using many micro vm's and failure is no chance regardless of load. But again this is my say.

Check for inputs from others.
