Do you have 2-factor authentication on your account? If so, you'll need to generate an application-specific password for GAE.

Cheers,

I have the same issue, I type in my password correctly, it still says  An error occurred processing file '': HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized. Aborting.
and I don't have 2 factor authentication for my account.  What gives?  I'm using windows 8 with the firewall turned off and I can't even deploy the helloworld sample app.

I can't believe I missed this, but my systems clock was off by one day.  I corrected my date and time on windows, and now everything is fine.
