I tried the new beta version of the flexible app engine and my application redirects (307 Temporary Redirect) to appspot-preview.com from my domain instead of serving up the requests from the domain. This is really awful for my use case and I reverted back to App Engine alpha.

Can someone explain the rationale for the change? Will this new 'feature' be rolled back?

Thanks.

Yeah, this one caught me by surprise also. It is documented, although not in a very visible way: https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/flexible/python/upgrading#domain_update:

Traffic is now served from the appspot-preview.com domain instead of the appspot.com domain. All traffic from the App Engine flexible environment will be automatically redirected to the new domain. All App Engine Standard traffic will continue to be through appspot.com. When the App Engine flexible environment is generally available (GA), users will be able to use the appspot.com or appspot-preview.com domains for routing traffic.

Thank you Attila thanks to your post I spotted this link to request custom domains with GAE Flexible Environment:

If anyone from the GAE team reads these groups I suggest placing a link to the form within the actual GAE custom domain console.

Are you all still having the same issues? We recently went to setup and deploy our production app and we're having the same issue. At this time the 'form' linked from here as well as the custom domains changes article is no longer a form to make the requests.

Anyone have any insight as to when this might become fully supported again?
