Multiple apps in one app engine

Is this possible to connect multiple apps with one app engine? All the apps are in one account only.

I found this old thread about this same issue. Most of the ideas discussed are still relevant today, including the use of microservices and the ability to create a number of applications under one account depending on a variety of factors like resources and usage history.
