Tonight, I will host a live coverage of the WWDC keynote from a live-
blogging interface I designed for App Engine.
This will be for MacBidouille.com, the largest French speaking Apple
news website and we are expecting 30.000 to 40.000 persons to follow
this (average daily readership).

I've made extensive use of memcache and small ajax calls on an
extremely lightweight frontpage, but I have no idea how the app will
cope with the load and what will happen to my quotas.

So if any good soul in the App Engine team wants to turn up the quotas
on this app during the duration of today's keynote, I would be very
much obliged.
If not, it will be a good test of what can be done with this platform
in terms of live-blogging major internet events.

Sounds very cool, Francois, and it should be a great demonstration of
GAE. Here's hoping you get your quotas.

Now if only my French was good enough to follow :)

actually, we have another instance of the same code running for
hardmac.com with the coverage in english

I've also made an official request of quota increase through the
official channels here:

Any indication how it's going?

I know the keynote's still on..but I see your keynote site is still up
while your main site is down..which is a good sign (for the app-
engine)..

Any more details you can share? Did you get your quota increase?

After 3 minutes for the main app covering in french:

App Engine Error
Over Quota
This Google App Engine application is temporarily over its serving
quota. Please try again later.

1 in 3 to 5 requests would still go through though.
Then 1 hour into the keynote:

We're sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer
virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process
your request right now.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on
Google

So live-blogging on App Engine isn't quite cutting it yet.
The english version which had a much smaller audience kept running the
whole time with around 25 requests/s

Hmmm...this warning/error is interesting ("... but your query looks
similar to automated requests from a computer
virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process
your request right now. ").

How exactly is that triggered? I wouldn't want my site to suddenly
stop serving requests just because Google incorrectly thinks a virus
is making them.. I'm guessing/hoping this only arose because the quota
was exceeded. I presume with the full service, and paid-usage, these
won't be issues..
