Unable to compile samples

I followed the guide given by Jan Struhar to get the library to compile (Thanks Jan!) Though it allows to build the calendar sample it breaks at the next sample (sample_contrib).

I am very keen to use the Google Cloud Platform, but I have to be able to link to it with C++.  At the moment it just seems AWS is much further ahead with C++ looking at https://aws.amazon.com/documentation/sdk-for-cpp/. A pity, as Google with all its c++ expertise really should be able to put a decent c++ interface together...

here build fails too. Seems only python 2.7 is supported with 3.5 or 3.6 it fails. Why no full C++ support? At least for linux?

Today i am building the library, it halts at -- Looking for a Fortran compiler, and never go past this. I even installed the compiler very same issus.

anyone can help me getting it to build and install?
