I've started using the  GA4 Magic Reports add-on and it is working how I need it too. Would definitely recommend giving it a go rather than the GA4 report builder add-on

Hi all,

As the optimize smart article says, the official Google add-on is “pretty much useless”. But the GA4 Magic Reports add-on works really well and I definitely recommend it.

In GA4 Magic Reports the month ordering is:

Order by              dimension|yearMonth__ASC

And filtering for traffic source organic is

Dimension filters              sessionMedium__EXACT__organic

Note that GA4 has 3 different sets of traffic source dimensions.

medium only applies to conversion events and so you have to use sessionMedium or firstUserMedium

See: https://ga-dev-tools.google/ga4/dimensions-metrics-explorer/

Ngā mihi,

Stuart

Hi!

Here https://www.optimizesmart.com/how-to-export-ga4-data-to-google-sheets-for-free/ I have found examples of syntax for filters and sorting, I need to order ASC by months and filter organic , but they have not worked for me. :(

Anybody has a spark of light for this?

Great to see the GA4 add-on launched. I would like to use filters in my report but do not see this option at the sidebar. When I run the report, at the report configuration tab 'metric filters' and 'dimension filters' are visible. This indicates that filtering should be possible.

Any idea on how to format a filter at the  configuration tab?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for this addition, good to know!

The add-on is not mine, it's the 'official' Google add-on, but I knew a lot of people in this Group were waiting for a replacement for the old UA-->sheets add-on.

And I totally agree that sampling will cause a lot of limitations, but that's the way Google operates now and that will not change I think.

I fairly sure that Segments are only available in the GA4 Explorations tables. These tables are not exposed to the Google Analytics API -  Refer to this Looker Studio community post, and specifically Rick E from Google's reply.  Unless Google have a massive change of heart, there will never be Segment capability in any reporting solution outside of GA4's own Explorations.

This means your Sheets add-on (and any external reporting tool, even Google's own Looker Studio) will likely be impacted by high-cardinality dimension collapsing to (other), will never have segments, and will offer no option for unsampled or low-sampling rate queries.  It's a huge limitation.

Hi Valentino,

No, I don't see an option for segments in the configuration.

But you can add dimensions and filters to create the right exports.

Hi John,

Do you have "segment" in the configuration options column?
