Hi there!

I just downloaded the add on and went through all the documentation without finding a satisfying answer.

In google analytics I setup a custom dimension named "User ID", index 1. How to recall it in the Dimensions of the google spreadsheet add on??

"User ID" doesn't work, nor does "ga:dimension1", as suggested in the documentation of the core reporting API (here https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/core/dimsmets#view=detail&group=custom_variables_or_columns ).

Both "User ID" and "ga:dimension1" return "No matches found".

Is there any solution?

I couldn't find anything in the group either!!

Thanks for helping

Nick

Using "ga:dimension1" should work, so if it's not working then there must be something else going on. Does it work when using custom reports in GA or when using the Query Explorer?

Hi Philip, thanks for taking the time.

I'd say yes to both questions: the custom dimension is showing up correctly both in Query Explorer and in Google Analytics reports.

I found an (extremely dumb) workaround: neither "ga:dimension1" nor "User ID" would show up under "Dimensions" in the "Create a new report" widget, BUT I can manually input "ga:dimension1" in cells *9 (B9, C9, D9 etc.) of the "Report Configuration" sheet.

And I have my data!!!!!

I appreciated your support   (-:

Ahh, sorry, I didn't realize that was your issue.

What you did is actually the recommended way of adding any user, property, or view-specific dimensions or metrics to a report. Maybe it's worth clarifying that in the documentation.

It's been on my list of todos to update the add-on to use the same code as the query explorer (which uses the Management API to get a list of all dimensions and metrics a user can access for the chosen view). Unfortunately it hasn't been a very high priority.

Apparently, I'm the first person having this issue. So, although it looks like a very nice update to me, maybe it's really not a high priority  (-;

Thanks anyway
