I just installed the add-on and on my first use after I filled out the Create a Report pop-up and selected "Create Report" I got the following message.

An embedded page at …4sibsdcuudfxgaadq-0lu-script.googleusercontent.com says: ScriptError: Authorization is required to perform that action.

Anyone know why or how to solve?

Can you confirm that you have at least one Google Analytics account with data?

I.e. if you go to https://google.com/analytics/web/ do you see a web app or a page asking you to sign up for Google Analytics?

(Note: this add-on is not a generic data analysis tool, it's a tool for integrating with Google Analytics).

If you have at least one Google Analytics account, then you shouldn't have any authorization issues.

Can you try this?

2) Find "Google Analytics" in that list, select it, and then click "REMOVE ACCESS"
3) Then refresh your Sheets tab and try using the add-on again.

Since you removed access, it should ask you to re-authorize, but after that it should work. Let me know if it doesn't.

I followed your steps and I'm still getting the same error. Thanks for your help. I'm going to move on and update the spreadsheet manually.

I'm having the same problem. All my spreadsheets are returning the same error.

I've tried to change the authorization but everything still the same.

Tried to create a new spreadsheet fro scratch and had the same result.

What more can i do?

I'm looking at the logs and I don't see any occurrences of this error since the add-on was updated yesterday. Can you confirm this is the exact error message you're receiving?

Please also provide screenshots.

The error continues:

I've tried to change authorization and make a copy and didn't worked

I've looked all through the add-on's error logs, and I see zero instances of this error. That means it's not being thrown by the add-on but rather by Sheet's itself.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there's anything more I can do.

Hello, Philip!

Why do you think the problem is caused by the Sheet itself? I found this topic https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/sites/Ubc9d3-jKqo about similar error, where they discuss some authorization required for the script to work, maybe you have similar problem after your update?

Hello!

I didn't fixed it yet.

When i try to schedule the reports the same thing happens. Later i will try to recreate the spreadsheet with other account, but for now every thing is the same.

All add-ons have error logging that allows me to search for where in the add-on code the error originated.

In this case, there are no errors in the logs for the string "Authorization is required". Not even for just the word "Authorization". That means the code that's throwing this error isn't code in the Google Analytics add-on.

And this makes sense, because it's sheets that handles all of the authentication and authorization flow when you use the add-on anyway. The add-on doesn't handle that, so if there's an authorization error, it makes sense that it's coming from Sheets.

Seems to be a problem with the account.

I've made a copy from a shareable link and installed the add-on with this new proprietary and worked.

I've tried to do the same thing in the inverse direction and the sheets don't work.

The curious thing is when i shared the first copy with the old owner i could run the reports with this user.

So, seems to be a problem with the account who owns the spreadsheet. I wil try other things and post here if the result is different.

I had to remove accually two apps (one was a third party app "Google Analytics", one was a Google-App "Google Analytics"). After I've removed both of them, it worked.

This drove me nuts for a solid hour- tried removing and re-adding the add-on, adding and removing permissions for the analytics accounts etc, to no avail.

Then I tried logging out of all Google accounts in my browser (I'm routinely logged in to 5 or 6 at a time).
When I logged back in solely to the account I was trying to use, the problem went away.

Worth a shot if you're logged in as multiple users...

Thanks Daniel, I suspect this may be the issue for most folks having this problem.

Personally, I always use a different Chrome profile for every Google account I'm logged into. I find this easier to manage multiple accounts.

THIS ^^^

This solved my issue. I opened a new Private Window in Firefox. Did not encounter the error.

Thanks God for this forum! The error drove me insane yesterday - did the same as John but opened a Private Window in Chrome --> reports refreshed successfully :)

Thank you John!

After reading through this thread, I tried accessing the same sheet and add-on via an incognito window and it worked fine.   Thought I'd add.
