Hi,

I created a google analytics property, received a tracking ID, and made several attempts to generate hits but nothing seems to work.

At first I tried the Unity Plugin, from the Unity editor, which uses measurement protocol to log hits. It didn't work.
Then I tried a REST client to make POST requests. Still nothing.
I tried GET requests directly from browser. Nope.

I checked the realtime dashboard, but nothing is appearing.

Tracking ID was copy-pasted and checked letter by letter many times to make sure there is not mistake. Here are a few examples of queries I tried:

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm always getting the GIF response, but I understand it's meaningless.

If this is a brand new property it can sometime take as much as 24 hours before you see anything reported in GA. If you're still not seeing anything tomorrow, let me know.

I am getting the data now, thanks.

Is this delay written in one of the guides that I've missed?
I spent a couple of hours trying to debug this...

That's a good question. I'm not sure how I knew about the 24-hour thing. I suppose I just picked it up somewhere along the way.

If you were just reading measurement protocol docs, I wouldn't be surprised that you didn't see it since this affects all data collection methods (and is generally a problem with Google Analytics itself, not the APIs).

I did a quick search and found lots of references (like this one) to the 24-hour thing, but pretty much all of these were categorized under some sort of web tracking umbrella.

Anyway, I'm glad your issue is fixed, and we'll see how we can make this more apparent in the future.
