Embed API and dashboard

For my university, I'm currently working on a site statistics page in which it shows a graph of the number of pageviews for a particular part of the page. Everything is working perfectly, the only problem is that in the demo where you construct the graph, it has a date range where you input the "startDate" and "endDate". In the demo, for start date it says '30daysAgo', however, I need it to be a particular date, particularly August 9th, 2015. I've tried a bunch of different ways to put in the date format and it won't let me, does anybody know the syntax of how to do so?

----- I realize this is the management API forum, but I'm not included in the embed API forum so I thought I'd ask here since I received a lot of help from here before.

Hi Jordan,

The start date format is 2015-08-09 for August 9th, 2015. Here is the reference article: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/core/v3/reference#startDate

Also the query explorer gives a good example of inputing the date.
