Importing data into GA

I see that some developers are importing third party information into
GA.

How do I find out more about this? I cannot seem to find anything
regarding this functionality of GA's API.

Hi,

These developers have done this ad-hock, without our support.
Currently the Google Analytics API does not provide a mechanism to
either import new data into GA or change the UI with new metrics.
