Hi.

I understand the Google Web Search API was deprecated in 2010, but it was still working until yesterday, today i cant get any result and retrieves a javascript error in console log...so i´m wondering if Google completely discontinued Google Web Server API or is just a temporary error?

Best Regards,
Tiago Agrelos.

I am still getting a response from the AJAX APIs, though I should expect that the various APIs should begin to sunset at any time. And if they do go offline unexpectedly, I would not expect Google to expend significant resources to restore the services.

"TypeError: b is undefined @ https://www.google.com/uds/api/search/1.0/3dedc880e2af6701a07ce9db4eb5a618/default+pt_PT.I.js:375"

pt_PT

That just means that there is a problem in the JS wrapper. The underlying service is still running.

To switch your locale, simply switch your browser's locale settings.

Are you saying switching the browser local settings will make the code API function again?  If yes, please advise how to update that setting.  Is that in the web page code somewhere?  Please advise more detail.  I am in a panic because I have thousands of pages that have completely shut down yesterday.

My search results page, as of yesterday, also indicates there is a script error with the following: URI: http://www.google.com/uds/api/search/1.0/3dedc880e2af6701a07ce9db4eb5a618/default+en.I.js

Any thoughts?

Changing the locale of my browser to english US will start showing results, so the problem is with the JS pt_PT. Should i expect to be resolved soon? Or better to start working on alternatives to Google Web Search API?

@Fashion Industry
What is your locale? Also pt_PT?

Using chrome just follow this instructions to change the browser locale:

It's hard to say if or when the issue will be resolved without an official word from a Google employee (which I am not). However, regardless of what they say at this juncture, I would be working on alternatives to the Google Web Search API. Its deprecation was announced publicly three years ago, and while the service has been maintained per the TOS, the sunset date is virtually upon us. Therefore, going forward, I have a hard time believing that Google will expend much - if any - effort to restore the service (or any portion thereof) should it fail.

It start showing results again for my locale.

After some search i got a "suppose" final date for April 2014 to completely discontinue the Google Web Search API, but i will start working on a alternative.

Thanks for the updates Jeremy.

Be advised that the deprecation of the Local and Web Search APIs was actually officially announced on the Google Code blog November 1, 2010. Which means that their retirement date is November 1, 2013.
