I don't know that you'll be able to do exactly what you're wanting with a strictly client-side Javascript solution. You'll need to be able to compare the complete content of the test document to the complete content of original documents. Given that the original documents may or may not be on the same domain, you may not be able to pull their contents using an XHR. So you would at least need a proxy of some sort. And then, I'm not sure that Javascript provides an adequate way to gauge the similarities between the two documents. I mean, you could loop through the content, using a regexp to find similar blocks of six or seven or eight words, and then divide the total you get by the total number of times you execute the regexp. But it would seem that this would be excruciatingly slow, particularly for long works such as dissertations, etc., and it may not be the most accurate.

It should also be noted that there are solutions which do this. For instance, there is a Perl module which will use the Cloze method to identify plagiarism. You can find information about it here: http://search.cpan.org/~unobe/Text-Cloze-v0.0.1/lib/Text/Cloze.pm
