I'm writing a commercial application that I intend to sell and would
like to embed the Google translate capability in my app.
Can anyone point me to an authoritative source for the terms of use
for the Google? (Surprisingly, finding a license agreement on the
translate page is not easy...)
https://code.google.com/apis/language/translate/overview.html
The only thing I've ran across is this:
"You may not use the API or the Results for, as the basis of, or in
connection with any commercial use, application, or development. You
may not use, distribute or otherwise make available your Application
for any commercial purpose."
From:
http://research.google.com/university/translate/terms.html
Yet, this post seems to say it's OK:
http://groups.google.com/group/google-ajax-search-api/browse_thread/thread/ad6aa5877aa9205a/6abf13b4cdd9fb08?q=%22Terms+of%22+OR+%22of+use%22+OR+%22use+for%22+OR+%22for+Google%22+OR+%22Google+Translate%22+OR+%22Translate+in%22+OR+%22in+a%22+OR+%22a+commercial%22+OR+%22commercial+application%3F%22&lnk=sbp#6abf13b4cdd9fb0
And there seem to be other commercial that use the Google translate
API, so it's not clear to me.
I have no problem giving credit to Google, etc., but want to be in
compliance with the TOS before I begin... I'm looking for a clear
agreement that says what I can or cannot do...
Any pointers?
Many thanks,
Dave...
