Find out how many of the feeds have been updated on the current date

Does the api provide a way to create a count of how many of the feeds have been updated?

Assuming that you're doing this via the Feeds API, probably the best way to do this would be to get the results in MIXED mode. You can then use DOM methods to check the feed's xmlDocument for the pubDate (RSS) or updated (Atom) elements.
