News Search with geo

Hi,

I want to show a multi language news search restricted to a given
country. How do I have to choose the language for the geo parameter?

I get results with:
?hl=en&geo=Germany
?hl=de&geo=Deutschland
?hl=fr&geo=Allemagne

but not with:
?hl=de&geo=Gemany

So it seems the country name has to follow the language chosen for the
'hl' parameter.

Is that true for all countries? And if yes, is there somewhere a table
with all possibilities?

I've made some progress and indeed the results are better if the geo
param is localised. At least for these combinations:

ca França / fr France / en Greece / it Libia / en Libya / en Algeria /
fr Maroc / en Morocco / en Portugal / pt Portugal / / en Spain / es
España
ca Espanya / en Italy / it Italia / de Italien / fr Italie / sl
Italija

The translation api has no results for Breton, Corsican, Western
Frisian, Basque, so no test/results.

Interestingly non ASCII param/country España works, however Arabic
(Cyrillic not. (e.g. bg България / ar (Algeria) الجزائر / ar (Libya)
ليبيا / ar (Egypt) مصر)

Are non-European languages supported? What about Turkish?
