java.lang.RuntimeException on android.hardware.display.DisplayManagerGlobal.getDisplayInfo. Mostly RedMi devices.

I have been facing a long term recurrent issue, mostly but not exclusive to Redmi Note 7 devices, where I receive crashes in my android developer console with the following detail:

java.lang.RuntimeException

at com.google.android.gms.ads.omid.library.utils.b.a (b.java:14)

at com.google.android.gms.ads.omid.library.walking.d.run (d.java:25)

at android.os.Handler.handleCallback (Handler.java:873)

at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage (Handler.java:99)

at android.os.Looper.loop (Looper.java:201)

at android.app.ActivityThread.main (ActivityThread.java:6810)

I have updated my app with the latest version of the Admob SDK to see if the Admob banners I place stop producing those crashes and I may have seen a decrease from the previous Admob SDK version but the issue is definitely still there.

It makes things particularly weird that the defect is not completely isolated to Xiaomi devices, but it definetely impacts those in most instances, the top 3 are:

Redmi Note 7 (lavender)	130	66.0%
Redmi Note 5 Pro (whyred)	23	11.7%
MI 8 Lite (platina)	18	9.1%

• AdMob SDK version
• Logcat logs
• Copy of sample project (reproducing the issue)
• Steps to replicate the issue

 

In case of the issue being non-reproducible on your end, you may gather the above information from your affected users as well.
