first of all thank you for your great job.

every ad on my app is suddenly not working and i'm getting this error can u please point me to the problem, i couldn't find any solution after a very long search.

Thank you for sending the logs and other helpful information.

Upon checking the error logs captured particularly the last part "This app is using a lightweight version of the Google Mobile Ads SDK that requires the latest Google Play services to be installed, but Google Play services is either missing or out of date.", it seems that you are using the Google Mobile Ads Lite SDK which require users to have an updated Google Play services installed on their device.

That said, could you check if the device that you are testing with has the updated Google Play Services installed?

i'm using this package:

and the device has google play service version 12.6.73 installed and there is no update required

and this code what i use to request a banner

i had the same problem on my "huawei nova 2 plus", but, same project works just fine on lenovo device :D

here are my settings:

- google play service version 12.6.73

- compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-ads:15.0.1'

i don't know if i am using "lightweight version of the Google Mobile Ads" or not , but i am very sure that i had never used this code (implementation 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-ads-lite:15.0.0') in my projects !

Thank you for providing us code snippets of your implementation and other helpful details.

It is indeed odd that one of the error logs you've captured suggests that you are using the Google Mobile Ads Lite SDK but your code snippets confirmed otherwise. Looking at your code implementation for loading the AdRequest, your implementation should have worked as expected. 

To help us investigate further, could you provide the following information privately using Reply privately to author option?

• Ad Unit Id in question
• Could you confirm if you can reproduce the same error if you test your Ad Unit Id with our BannerExample app on your end?
• Is the error only reproducible in your Huawei device and ads are loading on other devices?

The banner is working last week, just doest work suddenly.

My test device is Huawei p9, i manually reinstall google play service from the web, then all the banner working fine again.

The major problem is that I cannot expect my app users will reinstall the latest version of google play service, they dun even know what that is... therefore these devices will never show ads and I cannot get any revenue.  And I am worrying most of the Chinese android phone maker using their modified version of Android will have the same problem!

 

So....pls pls pls google team help us fix that or guide us how to deal with this issue. Thx :)

We have the same issue as well, at least 50 users complained about it. This issue affects the devices: huawei p10, honor 5 and 9 and all the users are in Europe. The issue started around May 10th too.

To add in our investigation, could you confirm if the affected devices on your end have PlayStore installed in it by running the command below?

adb shell pm list packages | grep com.android.vending

If it has PlayStore installed, is it possible for you to capture and share with us privately (using the Reply privately to author option) the Charles logs (here are setup instructions) when trying to load ads in those affected devices? These set of logs will give us a deeper look into the Ad Request sent from your end as well as the response data returned from the server and possibly help us narrow down the root cause of the issue.
