Hi guys,

I'm new to the app game and Admob. I have just uploaded my first game app to the App Store which I have written using GameSalad.
It is published and available on the app store but I am completely confused about the best way to setup Admob. I have setup an account but it does not seem to operate correctly and predominately shows the same ad every time. I also noticed when the Google Home Mini ad is shown I can't click on it to purchase the item.

All I want to do is have interstitial ads pop up (from any advertiser) when I call for them in my game. This sounds simple I know, but I can't find a simple tutorial video or text that just walks me through each of the selections that I can make setting up my Admob account.
Am I supposed to setup campaigns or Mediation? How do I ensure that ads only appear a maximum of 3 or 4 times per minute?
As I mentioned before I just want to display interstitial ads (gaming ads if possible).

I hope someone can help me

Hi there,

Thank you for taking an interest in implementing AdMob in your application. To directly dive in to your concerns:

I have setup an account but it does not seem to operate correctly and predominately shows the same ad every time.

Kindly note that the Mobile Ads SDK does not control which specific ad shows every time you make an Ad Request, so it is possible that the same ad gets displayed on your end.

All I want to do is have interstitial ads pop up (from any advertiser) when I call for them in my game. This sounds simple I know, but I can't find a simple tutorial video or text that just walks me through each of the selections that I can make setting up my Admob account.

Since you mentioned that you have created your application using "GameSalad", we are not able to assist you as we do not have visibility on how they use the Mobile Ads SDK in their applications. Kindly note that we do not officially support any third-party frameworks, plugins or "app-builders" in this forum so it would be best for you to contact their support team on how to implement this.

However, if you are looking to implement this using the official Mobile Ads SDK, then you may take a look at our official developer guides on how to properly implement Interstitial Ads, as well as our InterstitialExample project for code reference.

I also noticed when the Google Home Mini ad is shown I can't click on it to purchase the item.

It is possible that the issue is specific with the creative. However, the same applies here that we do not have visibility over how "GameSalad" is using the SDK and may have affected the ad that was served.

Am I supposed to setup campaigns or Mediation?

Setting up Campaigns or setting up Mediation is not required in showing Interstitial Ads. However, kindly note that Mediation does help in increasing the number of available ads to be displayed on your end, so you can help lessen the occurrence of No Fill Errors.

How do I ensure that ads only appear a maximum of 3 or 4 times per minute?

Interstitial Ad Unit IDs support Frequency Capping, which enables you to limit the number of Interstitial Ads that can be shown per user per minute.

Hope this helps clarify your confusions. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Joshua Lagonera
