Send device Ids from client mobile device when it sends a dfp ad request?

Hi

Is there a way I can send device Ids from a client mobile device when it sends a dfp ad request?

The DfpExtras class does not recommend use of those parameters for sending device identifiers.

Is there any other way I can accomplish sending device ids?

Hi Nitika,

This would violate the Google Play Ad Policy. Why do you need the device id? You should use extras for custom criteria.

Thanks for the reply. I need the iOS device IDFA, which is the advertising identifier. I also do NOT prefer using the DfpExtras class, that was why I wanted to know if there is a way, I can get the IDFA in the ad request.

Can you tell me is there a way to get the device Idfa with the ad request?

Can you please be more specific. The link you pointed out tells me how to get idfa from ios api, not from DFP api.

I want to get idfa from DFP SDK adRequest.

Hi Nikitia,

You want to get the IDFA from the device (i.e. from the iOS api). Even if you could get it from the DFP api (which you can't), it wouldn't matter where you got it from - it should be the same identifier. Our SDK does automatically pass the IDFA to the AdRequest.

If I am using the following:

GADRequest *request = [GADRequest request];

[dfpBannerView_ loadRequest:request];

Then there is no way the adserver will receive an idfa in the request?

Also when you say, SDK automatically passes it in the AdRequest, which SDK are we talking about here, and in what format is it passed?

The DFP SDK automatically gets the IDFA and passes that to the server. There is no way for you to get this from the DFP API. If you need to get the IDFA from the device, use the iOS API.
