Interstitial No Skip Button

Over the past few weeks I have seen a large increase in complaints about interstitial ads which do not have a skip button. They require the user to watch an entire video before the "X" button appears. The length of the video varies, but I have seen examples where it can take up to 30 seconds for it to be possible for an ad to be closed. This is not only a poor user experience, but also goes against Google Play's Better Ads Experiences policy.

I am using both AdMob and Google Ad Manager, and the problematic ads appear to be coming from both. Due to the variety of the problematic creatives that have been seen, it does not appear to be limited to a small number of creatives.

I understand that you have a query regarding Interstitial ads not showing close button.

As per the documentation, Interstitial ads will not have a skip button. Instead, they will have a close button. From the beginning of the ad, the close button will appear on the corners of the ad.

I have run the Google Sample Application, and the close button is displayed on the corner of the ad.

Kindly provide the below information for further investigation:

• Sample project reproducing the issue
• Screenshots / video of the issue

I have uploaded a video showing an interstitial ad that was just shown to me through GAM. You can see that it is a 30 second video interstitial with no close button. The user can only close the ad after 30 seconds. The ad also seems to open the App Store automatically with no user interaction. This is a very poor user experience and likely in breach of Google Play guidelines.

I have the same complaints from time to time, interstitial ad has neither Skip nor Close button.

Usually I have to search and block this kind of ads manually.

Last complain was about SkySpace Aerial Conquest game.

For iOS, ads for Tile Buster, Monopoly and Golf Rival games have NO Skip button!

To everyone experiencing this issue,

I have talked to AdMob technical about this. Those apps not only don't have skip buttons, they also click on themselves. They said that the only thing we can do is report them from the AdMob dashboard. The advertiser creating those ads is a rogue advertiser, it is not a SDK problem. So far I have encountered them with a Monopoly app ad and an Azar app ad. Search them on Blocking Controls and report them.

Yeah well, I was reporting these kind of ads before, but it is happening again and again.

Admob SDK should put Skip button to every ad automatically - problems solved.

Blocking ads maually is just a waste of time.

Is this problem occurring for just one creative or every creative from one ad network? Can you remove that specific bidding/mediation partner from your ad source, and see if you still see the issue?
