It is ok to use multiple pub IDs in the same app.  It's actually recommended (for finer grained reporting) to use a different publisher ID for each ad placement in your app, assuming you're fine with managing multiple ids.

Cheers,
Eric

I need  auto refresh in admob view to be disabled with new release of  app.
To achieve the same, I need to create another admob publisher unit for the same android app.

Is it  OK to create multiple admob publisher IDs for the same app?
Admob settings allows  the same, but I am not sure if it is OK or recommended.

Hi Eric,

Just curious - how many publisher IDs can we use in one app?  We expect a large number of third-party publishers (order of thousands)  for our app - so can we issue a sub-ID for each of our publisher - so we know exactly what AD was associated with each of our publisher?

One of the things we were envisioning is to use different publisher ID per every AdRequest (under the same AD placement), depending on which third-party content is being displayed.

Thanks,
keerti.

Hello Keerti,

Are you referring to AdMob publisher IDs or DoubleClick ad unit ids?  You have to set up each publisher ID in the AdMob user interface; I'm not aware on any limit of the number of publisher IDs, but having a couple thousand IDs would be a lot to create/maintain on your end.  Also, you can't create one on the fly, so a publisher ID for every AdRequest isn't feasible.  I'm not sure why you'd want to do that anyways, as the reporting would be way too segregated.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your reply.  Let me explain the problem.

1. We have a distribution platform - that distributes some content
2. Publishers publish their content (with us) for distribution by our platform
3. End users consume content from our platform by means of a mobile app

Publishers and we share the revenue generated from ADs.  To determine each publisher's share, we would like to know the AD revenue generated while a given publisher's content was displayed/consumed on the mobile device.

We thought of several alternatives - please advise if you have a better suggestion/approach.

1. Associate some custom key-value pairs with every AD request, with key-value pairs encoding information on the publisher, or,
2. Use a unique publisher-ID per publisher.

Would DFP reports provide the (custom) data that was included with each request?  It will help us determine the AD revenue with each publisher of our platform.

If you have any other suggestions, please advise.

Thanks
Keerti.

@yellowwinter When using DFP, you can use multiple DFP Ad units within the same app.  I guess these ad units could have different network codes, but I'm not sure I understand the use case.  If you're controlling the inventory, I would assume you'd want to have it under the same network.

As far as the ca-pub-* publisher ID, is that associated with old DFP?  The Google AdMob SDK does not support the ca-pub-* publisher directly, such as when creating an AdView.  There may be some sort of integration on the DFP side, but can't tell you for certain.  You may be able to find out this information in the DFP help center, and another resource is the DFP forum, which may be more helpful for questions that aren't related to integrating with the SDK.

@keerti, I think we covered your questions in the developer hangout today.

Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Thanks for the response.. I wonder if it is possible to have multiple DFP network (e.g. "1130735") and publisher code (e.g. "ca-pub-7865546952023728") within the same app? So our publishers can monetize it from our app?

If it is not possible, is there a way for us to create / manage a sub-ID within our own DFP account?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it OK to have two admobs accounts in same app?

We are launching an app and we are sharing revenues between developer and designer.

One account would request ads 75% and the other account the 25%.

Do you think this is ok with admob terms?

I cannot read about that on policy.

Hi there,

Your app can have multiple Ad Unit ID's from multiple accounts and there would not be any issue with that.

Thanks,
