Crash in WebView - IllegalArgumentException: fromIndex(0) > toIndex(-1)

Hi,

We are encountering a recurring crash in our production app, and the stack trace shows it is occurring inside the Trichrome WebView (Chromium).

Fatal Exception:

Caused by java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: fromIndex(0) > toIndex(-1) at java.util.Arrays.rangeCheck(Arrays.java:727) at java.util.Arrays.binarySearch(Arrays.java:2268) at WV.d42.a(chromium-TrichromeWebViewGoogle6432.aab-stable-733905133:2) at WV.lm.run(chromium-TrichromeWebViewGoogle6432.aab-stable-733905133:448) at org.chromium.base.task.TaskRunnerImpl.runTask(chromium-TrichromeWebViewGoogle6432.aab-stable-733905133:31) at android.os.MessageQueue.nativePollOnce(MessageQueue.java) at android.os.MessageQueue.next(MessageQueue.java:335) at android.os.Looper.loopOnce(Looper.java:187) at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:319) at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:9063) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java) at com.android.internal.os.RuntimeInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(RuntimeInit.java:588) at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:1103)

Observations

• The crash appears to be caused by an invalid index range being passed to Arrays.binarySearch inside WebView internal code.

• This is happening entirely inside SDK/Chromium code and not triggered directly by our app logic.

Impact
We are also observing that the number of occurrences is increasing day by day, which is raising significant concern.
