After upgrading gradle version 7.4 to 8.4 this issue occur

  • ad unit ID
  • Breakdown of device/OS versions affected
  • Frequency of crashes

The samples are very outdated. I can't use them. Please update them if you want me to use them.
I tried to update the sample and changed the app-id to one of my apps, and see if I can get this specific error in the logs again, but failed.
However, I got a different kind of error in the logs instead, so that's what I'm uploading on the link you've provided.
The error is:

I've reproduced it even with emulator with API 35, and I can see the error in the logs. Please try better. 
Maybe you didn't look properly at Logcat, choosing the correct device/emulator, or didn't filter properly. Sometimes Android Studio doesn't update the logs when it should.
