Interstitial Ad sometimes will play unmuted

Hi,

I found Interstitial Ad sometimes will play with audio even I already config ad to mute before.

Here is the code when app launched:
[GADMobileAds configureWithApplicationID:appId];
[GADMobileAds disableSDKCrashReporting];
[GADMobileAds sharedInstance].applicationVolume = 0;
[GADMobileAds sharedInstance].applicationMuted = YES;

It seems not working perfectly.
I also found some unified native video ad has the same issue. The mute button is mute status, but the video is playing with audio.
It is not 100%  to reproduce.
  • I'm using sample interstitial video ad units: ca-app-pub-3940256099942544/5135589807
  • The Google Mobile Ads SDK version is 7.35.1

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us. If applicationMuted is set to TRUE, then - 

"Note: Video ads that are ineligible to be shown with muted audio are not returned for ad requests made when the app volume is reported as muted or set to a value of 0. This may restrict a subset of the broader video ads pool from serving."

It might be a serving issue, in which case, can you send us Charles logs (here are setup instructions for us to debug this further?

Hi Luka,

Thanks for sharing the additional information. I'm unable to reproduce this issue if I set GADMobileAds.sharedInstance().applicationMuted = true before I make the AdRequest. And none of the ads that you have logged seem to have any video ad in them. And even if they did, they would be muted. Are you still not noticing this behavior? Can you send a screen recording for us to take a look?
