Fatal exceptions in "gms.ads.internal" when loading interstitial ads.

In our google play crash reporting we are seeing many "java.lang.Error" errors.

Example:

java.lang.Error: FATAL EXCEPTION [main]

Caused by

The game uses:

• Unity: 2017.4.3f1
• GoogleMobileAds Unity: v3.15.0
• com.google.android.gms.play-services-ads-15.0.1.aar
  

We are in the process of improving out google play android vitals and this is currently our most prominent error.

I have already posted about this issue at https://github.com/googleads/googleads-mobile-unity/issues/741, however I was redirected to here and the issue was closed.

Thanks for reaching out to us and providing the crash logs captured on your end. However, I can't reproduce the issue on my end using our sample app. 

Are you able to reproduce the issue locally on your end? If so, is it still reproducible if you test with our sample app?

To help with our investigation, can you please  share the following information privately using Reply privately to author option?

• Ad Unit Ids
• Information about the devices where the error was reported to appear
• Crashlytics link
• If possible and reproducible locally, Charles logs (here are setup instructions) captured when the error appeared.

Thanks for getting back to us with more information. We are not able to reproduce the issue locally on our end as well. We have complaints about ANRs recently on the forum, but all those turned up as the publishers implementation issues or just the issue where pubs using the older versions of GMA plugin for unity. If you could share an apk or code snippets of your implementation, it would be really helpful for us diagnose the issue further.

Hello,

We have found a way to avoid the issue.

We where using some android libraries (aars) that we compiled with jdk 1.8.

This lead to gradle advising us to use JACK (http://tools.android.com/tech-docs/jackandjill)

which seems to be a cause of the errors.

We have recompiled our libraries with jdk 1.7 en removed JACK from the tool chain

and the issues has gone way.
