Hi,

I have used Admob for a long time without making any effort to increase the revenue. At first, I was just thinking to set up multiple mediating ad networks in Admob to get access to the real time bidding and let Admob mediation optimisation do the big job. Then I thought it might be good to have the opportunity to sell some ads/sponsorship directly and also better monitor the website, and therefore I signed up for DFP small business. I have spent a week trying to read all docs and made some tests to understand how to optimise the revenue through DFP. But I am getting confused over how the algorithms work for different set ups.

What I understand is that it is not possible to set up DFP to have real time bidding except if you have access to the ad exchange server (and DFP premium?). And therefore I guess it will be pretty time consuming to monitor and update the eCPM continuously in the long run.

However, can I set up most of the mediation in Admob to access the real time bidding and automatic optimisation of the eCPM value for each supported network, and then set up an line item with DFP SDK-mediation to request the ads from admob. When requesting an ad from admob through DFP will admobs in this case give me the calculated highest paying ad from all of the mediated networks? If so, is it allowed to use a chain of different mediation networks from third part? Or is there any setup in DFP that would make exactly the same job as admob mediation optimisation?

Sorry, if my questions isnt clear. It is because my head it not clear at the moment :)

If it was to many questions, please recommend me the best tutorial to answer my questions. I am just clicking around and around between googles admob and DFP docs.

Kind regards,
Johannes

Hi Johannes,

Thanks for getting in touch!

From your inquiry, it seems like you are interested in a custom ad serving logic, which might be available.  Since this forum only provides support for SDK implementation inquiries, my recommendation is speaking with a DFP Technical Account Manager if you have one at your company.  They will be able to offer any assistance you might need in the process.  If you do not have a TAM, feel free to check out the DFP Product Support forum for any advice.

Cheers,

Were you able to figure out how to mediate DFP via ADMOB or vice versa? Thank you= Baglan

Hi Baglan,

We can only comment on the mediation setup for AdMob as our team have no visibility over the mediation setup in the DFP UI. That said, it is not possible to mediate with DFP via AdMob dashboard and you can only mediate to these supported Ad networks (including AdMob Network) via AdMob.

However, I suggest that you double check with the DFP Product Support forum to see if it's possible on the DFP side to mediate with the AdMob Network via DFP.

Moving forward, please create a new thread for any other technical concerns you may have about the Mobile Ads SDK and we'll be happy to assist you from there.
