We have a support ticket with publisher support, but was also recommended to write here. Our ticket number is 6-0131000030757.

In end of October we started receiving user feedbacks regarding our app randomly crashing/freezing/causing performance issues and ads playing sounds even when the device is muted. This exalted quickly and we have now toggled off ads in our app.

We are seeing this issue on multiple devices, booth iOS 14 and iOS 13 and on multiple versions on our app, even old versions.

I August we had a similar issue where we found one ad that used all the available CPU and GPU causing phones to overheat. In that case we where able to identify the ad and block it. We may think this is a similar issue.

For the short-term, is there anything we can do to identify which ad is causing these issues? We have not received the ads ourself.

For the long-term, how can we stop these ads being delivered in the first place? It's not a valid solution to always try to find the ads causing the issue and block them.

Hi Gustaf,

To help with bad acting ads we have ad inspector which shows you a history of what filled your ad units, and logging Ad Response Id which gives you a way of reporting the ad that was loaded during a crash.

I raised your request to weed out on our end the bad acting ads with the rest of my team. You may monitor our blog for an update.

Hi Aryeh,

Thank you for looking into this. We will investigate if the response id is of any help.

Regarding ads playing sounds, is there anything more you can do to prevent this? We are already setting the `applicationMuted`-setting.

Best Regards,

Hi Gustaf,

Thank you for the response back. I work along with Aryeh and will be helping you today with this. Having looked over the post. Using the Ad Inspector to find the offending ads would be one of the best ways to work on resolving this. The other would be getting Charles logs to find the ads which we can use  then. While you can block the ad, we know thats not a great answer. thus why we ask for any information pertaining to the ad so we can handle it on our end.

As for the muting of the ad, that is definitely the best way to go about it right now.
