I'm working on a Unity mobile app and I recently implemented Google AdMob rewarded video ads. My app is currently in Open Beta testing, so real users may watch rewarded video ads. The test ads and Android production ads work just fine, however, when my iOS users on the Testflight build request an ad it will always fail to load.

I tried pretty much everything I can think of but even after hours of research, I could not find a solution for this problem. I would just like to know if the production ads work and can be served before I publish the app on iOS. I am aware that I'm supposed to use test ads for testing, and I do - but as far as I know, my Beta users are allowed to see real ads. Why isn't it working for any of them?

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Since you mentioned that you were able to see test ads, then it's safe to assume that your code implementation of the SDK is fine. If you still on the development/testing stage, we recommend our publishers to use our demo ad units while testing our ads to avoid your account being flagged for invalid activity. Once your app is ready for production, kindly replace it with your live ad unit id before publishing it to the PlayStore/AppStore.

Just to be clear, does that mean I simply can't show production ads on Testflight apps? Do I need to have an iOS app linked in the AdMob app settings (see attached screenshot) in order to serve real ads?

Hello Sebastian,

Thanks for getting back to us.

As previously mentioned by my colleague (Teejay), we recommend that you use our demo ad units while testing our app (Testflight) to avoid your account being flagged for invalid activity. As per this article, new iOS apps will not show Google ads until they’re listed in the Apple App Store. That said, you will need to link your iOS app on your AdMob UI’s app linking page.
