Hello,
We want to run direct sold ads in our app and understand that we can use campaigns to do that. However, it is not clear how to get multiple ads to rotate in the same position on an app screen.

Example, if I have a 320x100 ad in the middle of the app homescreen, how can we get the app to rotate different ads in the same spot. Ideally, we would group a client's banners in a campaign, so how would the ads in that campaign then show in the app?

The developer is currently using a specific ad id in the code to display an ad in the homescreen, but I think that will not allow us achieve ad rotation.

Thanks

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Could you please elaborate the details of your concern? Are you referring to the orientation of the ads that will be served to your app?

Thanks. I am referring to the placement of ads in a specific location on a screen not the orientation. Basically, what I am trying to understand is how to run multiple Direct Sold Ads after our app is in production. Say we have a slot/space for a banner on our homescreen and we have five ads from a client that we want to display/rotate in the same location, how would we do that?  Since  no more than one ad can show at a time in that location.

Please see attached image - how can we have multiple direct sold ads show in that location, where the coca cola ad is, over a duration of say 2 weeks.  If I can create multiple ads in AdMob at anytime, how can we ensure that all ads can run in the app after the app is public.

Here is the definition of Ad rotation from Google Ads  -  https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/112876?hl=en

For the web - Ad rotation is the practice of showing multiple advertisements in a single location on a web page. Ads may be rotated with each new page load, within a single page load, or both. Because the ads are placed in the same location, they are typically the same format.

Tried to reach AdMob product support but seems like the contact options have been disabled.

Thanks

Hi Akin,

Thank you for the additional information. Based on what you are looking to do. Would seem to be more in line with creating a campaign. Which is really more of an account based issue. For this you should follow the directions as shown in the link that you gave us.

Also would think to look into using the app-ads.txt file to resell the ads that you are using this should also help. But from what it sounds like is that you are getting the ads yourself and then posting them in your app? Which again would lend me to suggest following the campaign setup.

Hi Williams,
Thanks for responding.
Yes I understand that we should use campaigns for direct sold ads but what I am struggling to understand is how ads that are placed in a campaign are displayed in a predefined location in the app. Basically, how does AdMob know to display an ad in a specific location in the app after it has been created. For example, if I create a campaign and place some newly created ads in it, how does Admob know to show those ads in the app and where to show them

The developer placed the unique ad ID for one specific ad in one location on the screen but I don't think that is the right way since each ad will have a unique ad ID and then it wouldn't be possible to show different ads in one location. Hope this clarifies things better.

Hi Akin,

Thank you for bringing this to us.

I work with William and will assisting you today. I'm afraid that your use case is not doable, since direct sold ads only showing one Ad Unit ID in one view in the application and yes, it wouldn't possible to show different ads in one location. We can only suggest to create different Ad Unit ID (per Direct sold ads), then create a function that will request ad using different ad unit IDs that you created.

Hi Princess,
Thank you for responding. Can you please explain how we would create the function that will request direct sold ads using different ad unit IDs e.g. where would and how would we store the direct sold Ad unit IDs ?
Also, we want to be able to create and display the direct sold ads after the app has been published in the play store. Will we also be able to manage these ads with campaigns?

Thanks

Hi All,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I know how frustrating it can be and as much as we would want to assists you on this. I'm afraid that this is already out of our expertise. What we can offer now is that you post this to other developer forum like StackOverflow. We hope that you get a positive response from them the soonest time possible.

Hi Akin,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

To achieve the possible workaround for this, you can get some ideas in what we can share to you.

  • Create multiple ads in campaign with different ads layout
  • Create/Use the function that initialize the ads using ad unit ID's
  • Use the function every time the app cycle is on start/resume(sample for android lifecycle)

With this, maybe you can get an idea on how you can create your application with different ad unit ID's. With regard to your question, you can only display the direct sold ads if you updated your app that been published in the play store, since you needed to change Ad Unit ID's that been used when the app is published.
