Hi,
Can we change the App Open Ad transparent background to some other color?
The problem is that if we have banner ad showing at top, it is showing under the App Open Ad. Which creates ambiguity as banner and app open ad overlapping.
And it might comes under admob policy violation as well.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Mobile Ads SDK Support team.

No, you cannot change the App Open Ad's transparent background color directly. Because the background is transparent, your banner ad shows behind it, which can look like overlap.

The issue of the banner ad overlapping is an AdMob policy violation. You must ensure the App Open Ad is only displayed on a screen that does not contain any other ads like your banner.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Is it necessary to have transparent App Open Ad background, instead of any color? What's the reason behind this?

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us.

App Open Ads are intentionally designed with a transparent background, and this behavior cannot be modified. Google created App Open Ads to function as an overlay during app startup or when the app returns to the foreground, allowing for a smooth and seamless transition from the launch screen. The transparency also prevents developers from placing misleading UI elements behind the ad, as a solid background could hide important content or cause user confusion.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Hi,
Recommended Google-approved solution

The official solution is:

✔ Place the App Open Ad inside a dedicated “splash” activity with a solid background

Instead of showing App Open Ads directly on your main activity, do this:

1. Create a SplashActivity

2. Give it a solid background color (white, black, or your theme color).

3. Show the App Open Ad only inside this splash activity.
