AdMob app-ads.txt not being found all of a sudden

I've never had any issues with my app-ads.txt before but all of a sudden AdMob is not able to find it.  No changes have been made to my site. I'm hosting it from my own server. I have not robot.txt file. Within AdMob, I'm receiving the following error when attempting to have AdMob check for updates :

Here are some details to help troubleshoot the issue:

• URL: http://generationxen.com/app-ads.txt , Last crawled: 4 days ago, Result: app-ads.txt file not found (HTTP 404)

Yet, even when I click the link to my site, it works just fine.  Anyone have any ideas about what the problem may be?

Thank you for your response.

Since you mentioned that your app-ads.txt file is not being found, what we can recommend is to set up again your app-ads.txt file and ensure that it is crawlable. Also, as per our document, you need to wait at least 24 hours for AdMob to crawl and verify your app-ads.txt file. Also, some publishers reported that it takes up to 72 hours before AdMob system verified their app-ads.txt file.

Everything on my end is setup just fine.  My app-ads.txt had been working just fine for quite some time.  I can only assume AdMob is not finding it for some reason unbeknownst to me.

I would suggest checking this article that tackled what you can do to resolve issues with app-ads.txt. In addition to that, kindly check your account under the app-ads.txt tab and check the other recommended option you can do to resolve this. If all the said possible fixes on this are still not working in your end, kindly let us know.

I took a look at those steps just in case.  They only confirm that I had previously accomplished all the aforementioned steps.  Like I stated before, my setup was working just fine, but all of a sudden AdMob is stating that it can't find my app-ads.txt file.  I've made no changes to my hosting server which I have complete administrative control over.  The file can be reached from everywhere else. I should also mention that my /privacy which runs off the same server, obviously is reachable also, otherwise, my app updates would not be published in the Google Play Store.

Thank you for your confirmation. Since you've mentioned that you've followed everything on HC article that we provided, then it should be fine. As mentioned, publisher reported that they've wait at least 72 hours before AdMob system verified their app-ads.txt file. We would suggest to do the same and request your patience during this time.
