Hi Google and Android Developers

We see the banner Ads doesn't scale to full width for screen
resolution 1024x600 and higher. The new phones and tablets have those
crazy high resolution. Is there an easy way to scale the 320x50 banner
to cover the full width?

We tried IAB_BANNER size, it doesn't show any ads. Not sure if there
is no inventory or implementation issue. Also we are not sure if we
should use this size for phones.

If you have any suggestion/solution, please share it.

Thanks

Until the Galaxy Nexus, all phones had 320dp, so when you requested a 320dp X 50dp ad, it always scaled to full screen.  The Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone where this is not the case; I believe it has 360dp.  We have not come up with a best practice for developing for the Galaxy Nexus yet.  For now, your only option is to request a standard banner ad and try to place it in your app in a way that makes sense.

As for the IAB_BANNER, it is not showing up because the width of 468 is greater than 360, so no ad request will be made because the request is bigger than the screen size.  This size ad is meant to be for tablets only.

qHD phones have been shipping for close to 6 months so this isn't a
new problem.

If you figure the standard ad sizes are (in DIP. Multiple by screen
density if needed)
320x50
468x60
728x90

on screens like
960x540 (high density)
1280x720 (hi den)
1024x600
1280x800

There are no creatives that will fit. It might be nice if there was a
way for the ad view to fill the space (center the creative. Use the
background for the rest) but in general you shouldn't expect the
creatives to fit exactly.

I am guessing you are not seeing an ad due to lack of inventory. Have
you turned on the test mode?

Thanks.

Do you know what's the good solution for 1024x600 tablet? IAB_BANNER?
Not able to get it to work. I didn't set it as test mode.

Thanks.

There are other phones such Galaxy Note which has higher resolution.

We also tried IAB_BANNER for 1024x600 tablet emulator. It didn't
display Ads. Not sure if the size didn't match or there is no
inventory.

Thanks
