Hi,
I have few questions related to the upgrade email revived recently from Admob support team.

I have few old projects in ECLIPSE with ADT. In Eclipse, I have included "google play services lib" project in my code as LIBRARY. I am not sure on the exact version of google play services I am using but I have downloaded it as:

https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/google_play_services_8487000_r29.zip

Would appreciate if anyone could address / provide inputs to following questions:
1. How to determine the mobile sdk version if I have included lib project from "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/google_play_services_8487000_r29.zip". I am concerned as if it is not above 7.0 then ads would be stopped.
2. What if, I continue with my current setup as-is, will the ads be stopped from 15th Sep 2016?
3. Is there a way I could move to required 7.0+ version on eclipse with adt as android studio doesn't support multiple projects in same IDE instance.. :(

Thanks in advance. Hope the senior developers / support team will help a novice developer like me.

Regards

Hi there,

The email you have gotten about the SDK needing to be higher than v6.4.1 refers to a legacy, standalone Mobile Ads SDK that was deprecated back in February 2014, and that had its own versioning system. That deprecation does NOT refer at all to the use of Google Play services. What that means is even if you are using Google Play services 4.0 which was released back in October 2013, you are still OK.

Nevertheless, to answer your question: To determine the current version of the SDK compiled in your project, look at the integer/google_play_services_version in your project's Manifest.  The Mobile Ads SDK comes with Google Play services, so from the Play services version number we know the SDK's version.  From the download link you gave contains v8.4.8.

Let us know if you need anything else,

Thanks a ton for great explanation. It makes sense now.

I am not using standalone SDK and I verified that the google play service version is 8487000.

Thanks again!
