Hi,

A month ago, I received the message "Ad serving limit due to invalid traffic issues" in my AdMob account. I would like to know the current status of the review as it has been a month and I still have not received any feedback and this is really frustrating.

I am having the same issue. I ran a Google Ads campaign and received thousands of downloads in one month. But AdMob incoming traffic as suspicious and imposed the limit. Its been now two months and this limit is still on. Really frustrating and very bad for indie developers. I would like to know if AdMob has same policy for big developers/companies which receives millions of downloads in a month. Probably not, Google is here to harass small indie developers which somehow managing in limited resources and building good games. Shame on you Google.

I have now decided to go for mediation. I would suggest this for you as well and anyone who is in pain by this Ad Serving limit. Google's biased policies cannot be trusted anymore. They can sink you career and your company.

Hi Oblica,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Some ad serving limit are cause by invalid traffic concerns in your AdMob account. To avoid this kind of policy error, we always recommend to use our ad unit ids, when testing your application and enable the test device so you can avoid being tag as invalid traffic.

Hello,

Most of the developers know these polices. They either test AdMob integration with test units or test devices. I my self never tested on live ads, I have registered all my devices as test devices. I think the issue is how Google bot/AI work to detect the invalid traffic. They simply take number of downloads as benchmark for invalid traffic. Whenever number of downloads increases and so the number Ads requests, it takes it invalid traffic. I myself has experienced it. Whenever my downloads increases, either by running a Google Ads campaign or got featured on Play Store main listing page, AdMob imposes the limits in just days.

I would like to know:

1. If same is applicable to big development companies, who probably have millions of downloads in a month. Probably not. As I said Google is here to harass indie developers.
2. If Google detects invalid traffic from particular devices or from particular regions, why it imposes a blanket ban on entire account, which affect all apps. Why it just does not ban those devices, IP or region.
3. Why no particular reasons are given, about what is wrong. Just some never updated policies or vague explanation.
4. Why there is no mechanism to file an appeal if Ad limit is getting imposed multiple times or if it has crossed the 30 days limit. In my case Ad limit has been imposed on 4th June and it is still on. Cannot explain the losses I am having, for all of my games.

Irony is I am using one Google product (Google Ads) to drive my growth and another Google product is slowing down (or completely ruing) my growth. Really pathetic

Hi Oblica,

I understand that there is an urgency in your concern. However, the product support team is the appropriate team who can help you around as this is more of an ad serving issue. Kindly note that the SDK just requests an ad to the ad server (E.g: AdMob), and I'm afraid that it doesn't have any control on fill rate / match rate and policy error of your app. The product support team is handling this and it is out of our scope. To answer your questions clearly, we would recommend raising this to the Product Support team instead. We hope that you get a positive response from them the soonest time possible.

Hello,

I have already raised this issue but Product Support team is of no use. Someone from the team has closed my ticket marking as duplicate to one already exists Ad Serving limited ticket. Please see the link:

I believe the subject of Ad Serving limit is a kind of taboo which no ones talk about at or from Google, because it is totally unethical practice. Only Google does know why it keeps imposing this limit on small developers while leaving big developers out of it. There are hundreds of threads and questions on the many forums related to this with no answers. We have not seen many questions related to Ad Serving limit from other Ad networks. Not sure what is the Google's motive behind it but one thing is certain, this pain is getting bigger and bigger day by day.

I have now implemented many Ad networks in the mediation. I will see how they perform and if they perform well, I will leave AdMob forever.
