Hi there,
I have few questions related to mediation.
1. Is it possible to mediate FAN native ads by using native ads express?
2. If not possible how can I get beta access to native ads advanced ( also native express's performance is horrible in recyclerview, so I will be happy to use advanced instead)
3. I already implemented mediation for banners, so admob adapter is used. I read in FAN adapter's readme "Some Facebook native ad assets do not map one to one to Google native ad assets.", so I need to do some tweaks in my code before implementing it in the future version. So I guess I need to use new ad units to exclude previous versions from using native ads mediation?

Hello Minas,

Please refer to the answers below.
1. Is it possible to mediate FAN native ads by using native ads express?
As per this table, support for mediation with FAN is limited to Banner and Interstitial ads only.

2. If not possible how can I get beta access to native ads advanced ( also native express's performance is horrible in recyclerview, so I will be happy to use advanced instead)
You need to contact your Technical Account Manager to request access. However, if you don't have one, you may contact the AdMob Product Support team to get into the program. Please note that you need to be logged in to access the form.

3. I already implemented mediation for banners, so admob adapter is used. I read in FAN adapter's readme "Some Facebook native ad assets do not map one to one to Google native ad assets.", so I need to do some tweaks in my code before implementing it in the future version. As mentioned earlier, mediation to FAN for Native Express Ads is currently not supported.

Let me know if I misunderstood your questions.

Thanks,

Hi Ivan,
Thanks for quick reply!

Check out FAN adapter's changelog: - Added support for native ads.

So I guess support for native ads is added, the table you referred doesn't show native ads support maybe because it is still in beta.
But it's still not clear if I can use mediation for native ads express or only for advanced?

The link you provided for " AdMob Product Support team" redirects me to general AdMob Help for some reason ( I'm logged in ).

I have a lot of questions/suggestions about native ads. For example native ads express sample for recyclerview has some memory leaks and even after fixing all the leaks it still consumes too much memory and has horrible performance in low to mid end devices. So I guess express is not suitable for recyclerview, because low end devices can run out of memory and crash and even if they don't crash, performance is horrible.
Also there is no sample how to implement native ads advanced for recyclerview.

Is there any other way I can contact to the support team?

Hi Minas,

FAN Native ads is still in beta phase and you would have to contact both Facebook and AdMob Support team to request to be enrolled.

But it's still not clear if I can use mediation for native ads express or only for advanced?

Currently, Native mediation via Facebook Audience Network is only via Native Advanced ad type and not from Native Express.

The link you provided for " AdMob Product Support team" redirects me to general AdMob Help for some reason ( I'm logged in ).

Try to clear up your cache and try again. Sometimes using Incognito mode also helps.

Also there is no sample how to implement native ads advanced for recyclerview.

We do have a ListView example for Native Advanced and you can try use that to build one for RecyclerView.

Is there any other way I can contact to the support team?

This link is the only way for you to contact the AdMob Product Support team.

Hi Arjun,
Thanks a lot for clarifications. :)

I tried everything still the link for support doesn't work for me in different browsers, incognito, clean cache.
So can you please pass my feedback to the AdMob team.

I already use FAN Native ads directly and AdMob native express directly. Just want to combine and use both networks at the same time for all native ads to get higher fill rates and eCPM.
Thanks for the ListView sample! Will take a closer look when I get access to native advanced. Btw it's too much code and a lot memory leaks in the sample code same as native express RecyclerView sample. Other networks like FAN have simpler implementation for native ads.
Of course native express is good solution to simplify code and get advantages like tweaking styling and A/B testing without app update, but it has serious performance issues, even on high end phones RecyclerView scrolling is not 60 fps, also the lack of mediation makes it worth using advanced at the moment. But if performance can be improved and mediation implemented it will be the best native ads solution in the market!
