Admob rewarded based video ads not working without VPN.

Hi there,
I'm a unity developer and working on a clients project where I got into some very strange issue that has never happened before with any of us. I used the test ad ids to make sure ads will always appears on all devices. My client is UK based and I'm from Pakistan. The problem is when I create an APK and run it on any of my device, it shows the banner and interstitial ads as they are supposed to be. But the rewarded ad requests are not loading. I did the logcat trace and find out it is showing only a message saying Invalid request or no fill sometimes. But when I turn my VPN on to any other country and then try again, then the reward ad works properly. Now on my clients end who is based in UK. He gets ads properly on one of his device without VPN but on another device, nothing in Rewarded ads without VPN. Can you put some light on it about why it is happening. I have been looking a lot for this issue but couldn't found anything. Looking forward to your answers.

Hi Hamza,

Thank you for bringing this question to our attention. from what you have stated, the fact that you are able to get the ads to show indicates to us that you have the SDK properly setup . Which is what we are able to help with on this forum. The fact that you are getting no fills or no ad inventory in your logcats shows us that there is an issue with probably either geolocation or something along those lines with either the ads, or the phones. The other thing is that if you use a VPN this tends to clear that issue. Agains points to something that is not related to the SDK. For that we would suggest reaching out to our Product Support Team . As they can help if there is a geolocation restriction or some security factor that could be causing this.

Hi William,
Thanks for looking into this issue. I'm trying to see for any solution but coudn'y get any. The product support team option is not available to me right now. I want to make a new point. When we made the initial builds for test ads and up till the last properly working build, we have ads been displayed properly on all of the devices. And the problem occurs with rewarded video ad only. All else are still working fine. Also I'm using test ad ids which means that there should be no restriction and test ads should always be available.
Is this have to do anything with code or is this a backend problem?

With regard to your concern, no ads fill is expected if the location you are in has a small amount of ad inventory, then when you tried using VPN it may connected to other location who has large amount of ad inventory. App ID: Test Ad ID
Ad Unit ID : Test reward video Ad ID
Error Code in certain devices and locations : Invalid Request (thttps://developers.google.com/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/ads/AdRequest#public-static-final-int-error_code_invalid_request)
Play Store Link : App is available in Internal Testing for now.

When I use a test ad unit while I am testing my ads it shows up but when I use a real one nothing appears. Im not sure what I should do thank you.

Please start a new thread if your issue is not related to using a VPN. Then our team can diagnose your particular case.

Before you do though, as a first step you can try enabling test devices while still using your real ad unit.
