Admob test banner ads showing, real ads are not.

I'm trying to integrate Banner Ads. I can get the test banner to show up with no problem, however when substituting my Ad Unit ID, I get the following:

Error Domain=com.google.ads Code=1 "Request Error: No ad to show." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Request Error: No ad to show., NSLocalizedFailureReason=Request Error: No ad to show.} 

Ad Unit ID: 

ca-app-pub-6723619856332016/8500725683



I've seen this appear in a number of support tickets, but nothing seems to correspond to my use case. For additional testing, I used an app id and ad unit ID from another app in our organisation; the ads using those credentials appear just fine, so implementation doesn't seem to be the problem.

Could you point me in the right direction? The error message in the console is quite vague, and AdMob dashboard doesn't seem to indicate a problem with anything so I'm not sure where to go from there.

Forgot to mention the Google Mobile Ads SDK version is 7.19.1

Hi Alexei,

I tested your Ad Unit ID against our sample app and was able to successfully load ads. Could you verify if the issue is reproducible on your end using the sample app?

Please note that the "No ad to show" error could sometimes mean that there are just no available ads to be served. You may also try mediating to other third party ad networks to increase your Ad inventory.

Also, to help us investigate further, could you provide us the following?

Thanks for getting in touch!

For some reason, it's all working fine now. I was able to load the ads in both the sample ad and my production app. When I first posted this thread, neither the sample app nor production were working - for about a full day by then. Does the Ad Unit ID need any period of time to activate?

Hi Alexei,

I'm glad that you were able to successfully load ads now. Please note that newly created Ad Unit Ids may take a few hours before they start serving ads.

Hi there,

I am not getting live ads in my app. Test ads are being displayed. I have also checked my Ad unit ID many times it is correct but still not getting live ads. i have also tested my Ad Unit ID in another app but still getting the same issue. could you assist me to resolve this issue?

Hi Zain, 

There are a number of factors that could affect Ad serving on your end. Could you test your Ad Unit Id with our sample app and see if the issue persists?

That said, please refrain from opening old threads such as this one. I suggest that you create a new thread with the details of your concern (e.g. captured device logs when issue was encountered), and from there we could continue with the investigation.
