Hello,

I have an AdMob mediation ad unit that I frequently use to test how specific ad neworks behave under AdMob mediation.
This involves frequently changing the eCPMs of said networks (i.e. changing their position in the waterfall).

I have noticed that these changes often take a long time to be actually applied by my local APK (which makes the testing very tedious).

I know from this article that the app is supposed to cache the mediation setting for 300 seconds, but my experience tells me that sometimes the delay is much longer (and unpredictable).

--> How exactly does the caching of mediation settings work?

And how can I force my app to refresh its AdMob mediation settings?

Thanks
Sébastien

Hi Sébastien,

This really is a good question. Firstly, the referenced blog post is pretty old and not valid anymore. The SDK currently refreshes the configuration for every new AdRequest. There is no caching anymore from mediation's standpoint. If you have made any changes from your AdMob account, which basically is like the server, it takes certain time for it to get updated. That's the only reason you notice a time lag.

And how can I force my app to refresh its AdMob mediation settings?

There is no API from the SDK for this and you don't need too as I have mentioned, its a refresh of configuration for every AdRequest now!

Thank you Veer.

If you have made any changes from your AdMob account, it takes certain time for it to get updated.

So the delay does not come from the device, but from AdMob servers. Unfortunately the trouble for the developer is still the same.

Could you please be more specific regarding the update lag we should expect when changing mediation settings?

Hi Sébastien,

I would not be able to specify on the amount of time it might take for you mediation settings to be reflected into the server but I have personally found that it takes about an hour or more.

Thanks,

Hopefully the update can be reflected faster for easier testing.

I think it took 2 hours for update. This is ridiculous..
