Hello,

in the iOS SDK Release notes, since v4.77.0 I noticed that the Correlator was removed:
  • Removed GADCorrelator and its associated APIs. This feature was previously non-functional.
On the current Android-Release this feature is still existing:

If I read the Documentation, then the Correlator is important if we load multiple ADS on the same page:

Correlator is used to associate multiple ad views on the same page. When the same Correlator is attached to multiple ad objects, on the next ad load or refresh, they will start serving correlated ads.

So why this was removed for iOS and does it have any effects? Why do we need to set this on Android?

Thank you
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for reaching out to us, and for bringing this to our attention.

The Android Correlator and its associated APIs should've also been rendered deprecated at the same time as its iOS counterpart. I'll check in with the rest of the team to confirm when we'll be updating our documentation to reflect the deprecation.

Regards,
Ziv Yves Sanchez

Ok, but is there now another way that the SDK detects multiple ad loads are on the same page?

We added the correlator because of a support response of the DFP Ads Team years ago...

The correlator is also mentioned in the JS-SDK: https://developers.google.com/doubleclick-gpt/reference#googletag.PubAdsService_updateCorrelator

Thank you
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

I'm Sam from the Mobile Ads SDK team, I've been discussing your issue with relevant stakeholders. The correlator API is deprecated and not supported in any platform that I'm aware of, certainly for iOS and Android, and from reading the docs on GPT it appears to be deprecated there also. I believe on the web correlator like behavior is applied automatically on a single web page until tokens are reset (which is what updateCorrelator does I beileve).

We have had some requests around correlator functionality on mobile and are currently working internally to resolve this.

I'll track these discussions and notify you of any updates.

Regards

Sam

Hello,

Is there an update on a workaround to the Correlator APIs being deprecated? We request a few ads for one screen. The ads that display are often the same. We want to avoid this.

Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Please refer to these guides (iOS | Android ) for a way to implement correlator.
