[Android] Background Music & Sound is muted once UnityAds Played

Hi,

Recently found out there is 1 problem during integration in game. I had tested on few devices, once i had played Unityads video ads, my music and sound get muted. no matter how i renabled and disabled the sound listener seems like can't receive any sound at all. Below are some devices that I had tested:

1. HTC One M7(5.0.1) - problem exists.
2. Asus ZenFone 2- Z008D(5.0) - problem exists.
3. Nexus 9(6.0.1) - no problem
4. Lenovo A889(4.2.2) - no problem.
5. HTC Butterfly(4.4.2) - no problem.
6. Samsung S4(5.0.1) - no problem.

It seems like it only appear on certain devices. Anyone has any problem on the music?

Besides that, is there a way to take away the toast "Currency Rewarded : Amount" once the Video has been played?

Hi Lee,

Just to confirm, are you using UnityAd as Mediation through AdMob or on its own? If it's the former, would you be able to confirm that the issue exists with this sample app? It has UnityAd mediation setup for Android that you can deploy on the go to your device. If the issue still exists, then do get back to us and we will investigate further. 

Note that the Mobile Ads SDK, by itself, does not send out a Toast on being Rewarded.

Hi Lee,

It might just be a device specific issue. While I try to test this, can you also make sure that the affected devices are not on any custom ROM? Try to format and test as well and let us know.

Hi,

End up I found the reason what cause this. I'm using Unity3d 5.3.5f1 and the version do have a bug that will cause this.

Bug still exist..
I'm using unity 2017.4.1 and sound doesn't resume when Ad is finished while it works fine when I skip the ad.
Can't figure out a way through..

Hi Rahul,

Can you confirm whether you were able to reproduce the issue with our sample apps? Can you also share the following details for us to investigate the issue:
  • Sample app to reproduce the issue
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Charles logs
