Hi,

Earlier it was possible to create new Ad Unit ID (In case of android) with package id before app is live on Play Store (When adding admob with version 1).
New Admob Site does not seem to have a way to enter Package Name and create Ad Unit Ad before app is live. We can create Ad Unit Id by using "Ad Your App Manually" which doesn't take a Package Name. But once app is live is there a way to update Ad Unit with Live URL?

Thanks,
Kumar.

Adding an app manually is the way to go if the app hasn't been released yet. On the "Home" tab where it lists your applications, there should be a warning sign that says "Link Your App", where you can associate your manually added app with the app on the app store. You can link it once it's live.

Cheers,
Eric

Eric,

I've tried this unsuccessfully.  What is the parameter/link/ID that needs to get entered into this field in order to link an app that is not live on an app store?

Hi Eric,

I am having trouble adding my app via "Link Your App" of the "New AdMob". I launched my app yesterday morning (more than 24 hrs ago) in Google Play. When I search it in Google Play, my app was included in the search result. My new app will also shows in my Google Play profile.

But when I link my app via "Link Your App" in the "New AdMob", the search results doesn't include my new app. Why??? Developer name doesn't help also, it only shows my previous app.

How long will the "New AdMob" picked up my new app?

Thanks for your help.

Looking forward to know your answer and suggestion.

Levi

Hi Levi,

That is the correct way to link your app once it goes live. I'm not sure why it isn't recognized yet - maybe it just takes some time.

You can still get ads and revenue even if your app isn't linked. But I know it'll be nice to associate it with an actual app, and you'll need to have it associated if you ever want to promote the app with a house ad.

Thanks,
Eric

I am having the same problem. I published the app almost 12 hours ago and I still can't link it. It doesn't show up in search results.
What was wrong with the old system? This way our apps sit out there on the market getting downloaded before we can even put the ads on them. That just doesn't make sense.
So there's no way to associate an app with the ads before it hits Google Play?

Oh never mind. I get it now. I guess if the app has the right id in it beforehand it should be fine, right? And it will eventually link. I'll just keep checking.
Thanks.

Yes, you can release the app with an ad unit from an unlinked app, and you'll still generate revenue. Once the app is released, you can then eventually link it from the home tab. Anecdotally, it's taken at least a few days for new apps to be recognized by AdMob's Google Play search.

Even if the app is unlinked, you can still generate revenue from that ad unit.

Hi Eric,
I had set up advertising for the app, before linking the app under monitization. Now the app shows in the search however I cannot select it. Now I have the app listed twice, one for monitization and the other for promotion. Is there a way to merge these two or delete one after I have moved it over? The Monitization was added manually, and the Promotion one was added by searching google play store.

Thanks,
Chris

There is no way to delete an app right now, but if you have ad units under the unlinked app, you can move them to the linked app by selecting those ad units in the Monetize tab and choosing "Move".

Thanks,
Eric

It's not required, but one benefit of linking is that you then have the ability to create app install house ads to run on your other apps.
