Failed to load rewarded video ad on Devices without Google Play

Hi,

We want intergrate AdMob SDK on our Android App. To use rewarded video units, we followed the documentation(https://developers.google.com/admob/android/rewarded-video) and use a test unit ID (ca-app-pub-3940256099942544/5224354917). And we test succeed on our Nexus 5(Android 6.0) device, it can show video normally. But we test other devices, like XIAOMI phone, it always return  ERRORCODE=3 on method "onRewardedVideoAdFailedToLoad" immediately. After some test, we found that the rewarded video can't be show on the devices without Google Play App.
So, is admob must need Google Play? or something else wrong?

Thanks for contacting us. Error Code: 3 is usually seen when there is no ad returned from the ad server. Could you provide us your Ad Unit ID, so we can take a look and assist you further? Additionally, can you confirm if you're able to load the ads by testing your Ad Unit ID with our sample apps? Also, could you provide us the complete device logs, so we can take a look at the error you're receiving? Please use Reply privately to author option to provide us the requested details.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing the requested information. Certain creatives, such as App Install Ads or Reward Video ads that have click action to the Play Store, do require Play Store to be available in the device. If it's not there, the request will fail and the SDK will not render the ad. This is a device specific issue. please make sure that the device has Play Store installed and try to load these ad types.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Another question, we have already publish a BETA version of our App on Google Play to do some test. From our statistical results, 50% Ad requests are failed as ErrCode is 3 (The ad request was successful, but no ad was returned due to lack of ad inventory.) So how to fix this? Please help us.

Hi there,

Thank you for privately providing to us the affected Ad Unit IDs. I tried them out on our sample apps and I was able to successfully show both Test and Live ads on my end. 

Please note that No Fill Errors may be classified as intended behavior since the available Ad Inventory is a major factor in displaying ads on your end. One way to help mitigate this kind of error is to implement Mediation in your application, which increases the available Ad Inventory and could possibly help maximize fill rate.

If you would like assistance with Mediation, then I would suggest you to create a new thread so we would have a consistent flow of discussion among each developer's issues.
