Hi Team,
Would truly appreciate if you could help me with this query. I have spent weeks but still limited success only.

I have a app on google play with Admob integration. In some countries, the fill rate is very pathetic (as low as 20%). I configured house ads in Admob assuming that unmatched (un fulfilled) requests could be serviced by house ads. However, this is still not working as desired. I would say, only 4-5% percent of unmatched requests are served by House ads.

My basic requirement is, any unmatched request should be served by house ads so that the fill rate is improved from current 20% to 90+%. What is the easiest way to achieve the same?
I have configured ecpm based mediation between admob and house ads.

Regards,
Shrey

Hi Shrey,

It all depends on your eCPM rate. Simply increase your eCPM value to be more than the percent value of the other Ad Networks in the mediation stack. You can read more about Ad Network Optimization to learn more. You can send us your Ad Unit ID as well for us to look at your set up to provide more suggestion.

Thanks,

Thanks Veer for your reply. I have gone thru the link shared by you.

Here is how I have configured the mediation:

1. Refer eCPM attachment - mediation between admob and in house ads. I have defined multiple house ads all with ecpm 1
2. Refer fill rate attachment - you would notice that fill rate is only 1.31% for house ads.

My goal is to show house ads if there is no inventory in Admob. Why is fill rate so low for house ads.. house ads always have inventory, right?

Please advise.

Regards,
Shrey

Hi Shrey,

Right now, it looks like both AdMob and your House Ads are competing for placement equally. Assume that AdMob network has an eCPM value of 1 or 10, increase your House Ads to 90 or 100 each and try again. You can read more about eCPM to understand how this works.

Thanks Veer for your reply. I will surely try your suggestion. Few concerns:

1. Even in the current setup, why is it that house ads fill rate is so low? There are so many requests for house ads but only handful are served.
2. If I increase the ecpm to such high level, admob will never get to serve ads. So what ever revenue I am getting now thru admob that would also stop.

Is my understanding correct? I have gone thru the link shared by you but I could not find answer to my query. Would sincerely appreciate your inputs to these points.

My goal is to serve house ads only and only if admob has no inventory.

Hi Shrey,

Apart from setting eCPM values and testing which ones work the best for you, there is nothing much the SDK can do. But, AdMob will fall back to your House Ads if there is no fill. I will suggest you to contact our AdMob Product Help Center as they would be able to suggest you the proper values for this.
