I want to know the user's consent status in the Google UMP SDK.

In the Google UMP SDK, even if the user does not consent to GDPR, the ConsentStatus value is being transmitted as ConsentStatus.OBTAINED.

According to the Admob guide, Google says that it cannot transmit GDPR consent information to partner networks, so it must be set up manually. (https://developers.google.com/admob/android/mediation/applovin#eu_consent_and_gdpr)

Since the Google UMP SDK does not provide the user's consent status, it is impossible to set user consent in the partner network's SDK. Is there another way to know the user's consent status in the Google UMP SDK?

I am using the Google User Messaging Platform SDK v2.1.0, which was released on July 24, 2023, and I have conducted tests by setting it to test mode.

Upon checking again, I found the Admob guide document stating that when using Google's UMP SDK, the consent contents are automatically entered for advertising partners, including AppLovin.

And upon verifying through UMP Android SDK v2.1.0, I found that the UMP UI is displayed, and when the user chooses to consent or not to consent, the getConsentStatus() method always sends the status value as "OBTAINED."

It seems to be giving the status value of "OBTAINED" for actions where the user clicks consent or does not consent. So, is it impossible to confirm what content the user has consented or not consented to?

Hello,

Thank you for responding back. With regard to your concern, it is indeed that the UMP SDK is currently unable to pass the user's consent choice to such networks automatically. For your use case, you will need to display a consent screen for each partner network separately then pass it to the mediation network (For applovin, you may check this guide: https://developers.google.com/admob/android/mediation/applovin#eu_consent_and_gdpr). If you're just using AdMob as your ad-network, then UMP SDK is enough to obtain your user's consent.
