Wondering if the AdMob banner be placed under the app Bottom Sheet of an app, and if an user click a 'Close' button and then able to see the banner ad, will it be okay?

Hello Jacob,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Would it be possible to provide us an illustration or screen recording of this implementation? This is so we could provide appropriate guidance.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.
I attached an img for better understanding

1.When an user arrives in a page, a bottom sheet display overlapped on the App contents screen
2. When the user click 'Close' button of the bottom sheet, the bottom sheet will be closed
3. and the AdMob Bannder Ad will be appeared

In this situation, will it be problematic or Is this a violation of the admob banner ad policy?

Hi Jacob,

For your use case, below are the policies that you should be aware of.
  • Ads adjacent to interactive elements - Close proximity of banner ads to other elements within an app is one of the biggest causes of accidental clicks. To avoid accidental clicks, banner ads should not be placed immediately next to interactive elements and app content
  • Ad sandwiched between app items - Your banner is in between your app content and navigation/menu buttons. Users are likely to cross this banner ad multiple times while at a higher level of engagement with the app. This could cause unintentional/accidental clicks
  • Ad overlapping with app content (against policy) - Banner ads should not float or hover over app content. If an app has a scrolling menu, banner ads should not pop-up or be placed over the content of this menu
As the key points mentioned above, your use case / implementation might hit the 2nd statement. However, this is not a policy violation. Rather, more on user's experience that might cause accidental clicks which leads to account suspension.

Thank you for your response.
I would like to follow up with two more questions.

1. The user will only encounter the banner ad when closing the bottom sheet, so I don't think there will be any unintentional clicks. Also, this is a page that users see at most once a day, so I don't think there will be many fraudulent clicks. In this situation, would it be still get an AdMob account suspension?

2. 2. Is it possible to have the Anchor Adaptive Banner ad fixed at the bottom, but the app content is still scrollable? (Please refer to the image below)

Hello Jacob,

To answer your inquiries:
"could the banner ad be fixed at the bottom, while the app content is scrollable"
  • Yes. This implementation is fine.
"In our app, the 'bottom sheet' will not be always displayed. (It will display rarely, maximum once a day)
Despite these circumstances, is it possible that a user's unintentional click could result in an account suspension?
"

  • As stated in the previous question, it shouldn't be an issue with your implementation.
